Michael Gorden was detailed to the FMC from the Maritime Administration in June 2011. At the time he was attached to the Office of the Managing Director.
In April 2013, he was appointed Counsel to Commissioner Lidinsky Office, where he worked closely with senior executives of most of the world’s ocean carriers (APL, Maersk, CMA CGM, Mitsui, and Hanjin Shipping), to provide the Commissioner and staff at the FMC a maritime perspective on various issues and projects the Commission was working on. Main focus was on the ramifications the redistribution of the container lines and the formation of new alliances such as the M3, G6, CKYHE, and Ocean Three, would have on the supply chain.
On September 9, 2014, he was assigned to the Bureau of Trade Analysis, Office of Service Contracts and Tariffs. In his current capacity he works with Ports Terminals, NVOCC’s, and Common Carriers to make sure they are compliant with standards as outlined in the Shipping Act of 1984.
