Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake, is the Chairman/CEO of Aitken Spence Maritime & Logistics and Director of its main board Aitken Spence PLC. Aitken Spence Maritime is the first Sri Lankan Company to venture in to Port Efficiency management in the African continent and South Pacific Islands. He is also the Joint Managing Director of CINEC Maritime Campus, considered as the best in South Asia with an annual student in take of 19,000.
Dr. Dissanayake is a former Chairman/CEO of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and also a former Chairman of state owned Jaya Container Terminals and Sri Lanka Port Management Consultancy Services.
During his tenure SLPA was ranked as the most profitable Public Sector Organization in Sri Lanka by Dunn Bradstreet Corp., of UK.
Dr. Dissanayake is a Past Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Past Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Sri Lanka branch) and a Past Chairman of the Central Advisory Council of Sri Lanka Transport Board. He is Chairman of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce - Steering Committee on Ports, Shipping, Aviation and Logistics, a Board Member of the Urban Development Authority and also a Member on the Maritime Advisory Board.
Dr. Dissanayake who has obtained his MBA/PhD and qualified as a Chartered Marketer (FCIM) U.K., is the first Sri Lankan to have obtained both the highest qualifications in Shipping (FICS/Chartered Shipbrokers) U.K., and Transport & Logistics (Chartered Fellow Logistics and Transport) UK. He has authored numerous articles and presented papers on Shipping, Ports and Marketing related matters.
Dr. Dissanayake who was conferred with the Asian Brand Leadership award by CMO Asia is a University of Oxford Business Alumni, Fellow of Harvard Business School (EEP) on “Global Economy” and a Fellow of NORAD and JICA.
Some of the awards conferred on him include, Best Shipping Personality by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Distinguish Services to Society by PIMA of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Contribution to Shipping Industry by Ceylon Association of ships Agents.
On the diplomatic front, he is Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Fiji Islands in Sri Lanka.
